You told me in your additional information, that your doctor has prescribed a topical cream for you. I would strongly encourage you to go back to your physician. Whenever a treatment fails, it is important to follow up. Your doctor needs to re-evaluate the diagnosis and the treatment. Did you take the full course of medication? I cannot make a diagnosis, but likely causes are 1) yeast infection, 2) contact dermatitis (skin irritation), 3) allergies. It may be that you need a different topical cream. But most importantly, your doctor needs to rule out less benign possibilities such as skin cancer. Sincerely, Annette Owens, MD PhD
