Julian Slowinski

Biography: Julian Slowinski, Psy.D., ABPP Dr. Slowinski works with both couples and individuals around sexual issues in private practice in Philadelphia, where he is Senior Clinical Psychologist at Pennsylvania Hospital and is the former Director of outpatient Family Mental Health Services. Dr. Slowinski is also a Clinical Assistant Professor in the Psychiatry Department at the University of Pennsylvania School of Medicine where he has been on the faculty since 1977. It was during his years as a Benedictine monk in the 1960s that Dr. Slowinski combined his training in biology and theology to introduce human sexuality courses in private schools. He later went on to receive his doctorate in clinical psychology with a specialty in sex therapy at Rutgers University. He has been active in the field of human sexuality as an educator, author, lecturer and therapist for more than thirty years. A sought after speaker to both lay and professional audiences, Dr. Slowinski has lectured and published internationally on various sexual topics including: male and female sexual dysfunction, improving communication between partners, sex and religion, and training professionals and clergy in dealing with sexual issues they encounter in their work.. He has served as a consultant in the area of sexuality to the bishops of the Episcopal Church and other religious institutions, and is a founding board member of the Center for Sexuality & Religion. He is an AASECT Certified Sex Therapist and a Consulting Editor to The Journal of Sex Education and Therapy.
