Love and Relationships: Sex Counseling and Therapy

Sex Counseling and Therapy Introduction:
Many psychologists, social workers, and other kinds of therapists choose to specialize in sex therapy. And a wide range of professionals ranging from medicine (physicians, nurses, nurse-midwifes, physician assitants, etc.) to clergy to student counselors, regularly integrate sex counseling in their work. Sex therapy and counseling encompasses a range of work, from helping couples to communicate more effectively around their sexual behaviors and needs, to aiding individuals in overcoming self-conscience in order to relate to another person in a sexual way, to sexual techniques that can help a person or couple overcome sexual dysfunction. In the United States, sex therapists and counselors can be found through the American Association of Sex Educators, Counselors, and Therapists at www.aasect.org.
