Worldwide, it is estimated that one out of every 3 women has been beaten, coerced into sex, or otherwise abused in her lifetime, often by a member of her own family. Adult men, as well as girls and boys, are also sometimes victimized by sexual violence, although the statistics are limited due to an inability to or stigma about reporting the crimes. The good news is that people who are sexual abuse victims or survivors can heal from the trauma, and go on to have positive, healthy romantic and sexual relationships. This channel offers information about how to do this, and resources for where survivors can go to start the healing process.
