Resolve to Have a Sexier New Year
(01/03/2005)

by Gloria G. Brame

Want 2005 to be hotter and more adventurous than 2004? Below are five simple New Year's resolutions that will enhance your sex-life. Follow through on one or all five, and 2005 may turn out to be the most orgasmic year of your life. Happy Sexy New Year!

1. Resolve to have sex in a different way this year. Whether you have tried every position in the Kama Sutra or make love strictly missionary-style, everyone benefits from trying new things in bed. This doesn't mean getting into an elaborate pose (though it could). It can be as simple as taking the top when you've mainly been on the bottom; to holding your partner down or squeezing down on your pubococcus muscles during sex. If you're adventurous, try tying your partner up and take your time savoring the intimacy.

2. Resolve to have sex in a different place this year. It's amazing what a change in venue can do to make sex feel new again. You could fulfill a fantasy by jetting to an exotic locale and making love under starry skies. But if you're broke or on a budget, don't fret. It isn't so much about where you do as it is about making it new. When you have the house to yourself, lead your lover to a spot you've never before associated with amour: a closet, the laundry room, the basement or the attic. You can make love in the middle of the living room floor – or on the dining room table. Sex will feel wilder and more passionate. It might also feel uncomfortable if you don't use common sense (hint: add cushions to hard surfaces).

3. Resolve to masturbate in a new way. Most adults masturbate the way they learned to masturbate as teenagers. That's as good as far as it goes. Unfortunately, it doesn't go nearly far enough in helping adults reach their full sexual potential. Try toys – vibrators, cock rings, pumps, and other gadgets engineered for adult pleasure. Experiment with lubes and oils. Practice arousing yourself, then stopping, then arousing yourself again to develop better control over your orgasms. The more variety you can give yourself, the more variety you can give to and receive from your partner.

4. Resolve to have more orgasms this year. Whether you've never experienced an orgasm, or whether you enjoy them as often as you can, there's no reason you can't climb to new peaks this year. Orgasms are one of life's best stress-busters. They improve cardio health, lower blood pressure, decrease stress levels, keep your reproductive system in good working order, burn calories, and help you stay flexible and fit – something that's particularly important as you get older. Whether you are solo or partnered, you should not deny yourself this most basic pleasure. Set aside a few extra minutes at night to devote to your body's pleasure, or add a quickie to your morning routine. If you've never had an orgasm, 2005 is the year to buy a book on the subject or explore iFriends' resources to learn techniques that will get you over the top.

5. Resolve to give my partner(s) more orgasms this year. Don't forget the one you love. In addition to all the physical benefits, you will be sharing the most intimate act people can experience. Take the time to learn more about your partner's mind and body – the secret fantasies and sensitive spots that make his or her juices flow. Introduce new variations into your sexual technique; change the speed by slowing down some caresses; change the mood by doing other things more forcefully than usual; and reap the rewards of a happier, more affectionate lover.
